What do I do in course of action? Do I resort to VPN or get further Xbox help?

Hello, my Xbox gamertag is FAoS DareDevill. It has come to my attention that I think a hacker may have found a way to track down or latch onto my IP Address. Me and a friend were playing Grand Theft Auto 5 when we started to initiate in combat. Though
this may seem perfectly normal, their online in-game stats seemed off. (Thier K/D ratio specifically) Me and my friend initiated in combat for a while until I blocked them (they have 4+ accounts). I have reported them for using mods and unfair advantages.
The reason I suspect them for tagging my IP address is because even though me and my friend set our profiles to appear offline , reported and blocked them, they are still able to join any of my sessions along with message me. This case happened yesterday.
Earlier today, they started to track me down in every in-game lobby I have joined. They have 4 alternate gamer tags: EUL0GY, Straight Effect, T R IR GG, I AVOID ME I. I fear that if that can somehow track down my IP address, is it possible to get DDoS on new
newer consoles? Should I I consider looking into a VPN? Should I mi look further into Xbox support?

Hi, always report suspicious activity if possible in game as well as on the Xbox. A DoS or DDoS attack floods your router with useless packets, which denies access to the internet. It is not an attack on your Xbox. It also comes from outside of Microsoft
servers so it is difficult for Enforcement to take action, unless you get a message stating their intentions. Here is a link to FAQs about DoS and DDoS attacks.

If you are being harassed by a person and have issues being DDoSed, mute and block that player, and then disconnect your Router/Gateway/Modem for about a minute. After you reconnect to the internet, you'll have a new IP address.

Unless that person manages to get into the same party or multiplayer match, they don't have your new IP. Therefore I recommend to set your Parties to "invite only", and to try and only play with people you know and trust, instead of public matches (if possible).

A VPN will not help. If you use a VPN, they will simply connect to the IP address you got from the VPN provider, and attack you through that address.

As for newer consoles: The Xbox One tries to use IPsec encrypted network traffic preferably via IPv6. That, and the fact that the Xbox One hasn't been modded yet, provide a more hacker/cheater free environment than the older Xbox 360 generation.

I think that's kind of obvious, of course i'm going to report people, but even when i do, no further action is taken so reporting it on Xbox is pointless and i'm not saying you shouldn't report it to Xbox i'm just saying Xbox doesn't do anything even when
you do. I'm sure in the future Xbox can find some way to figure out who's doing this like adding a report feature specifically for DDoS and monitoring who gets reported a lot and investigate further or report them to the authorities even depending on severity.

Kids online need to be educated on the severity of what they're doing, instead of being allowed to get away with it. The longer no action is taken the more it's going to encourage people because they know they can get away with it.

Its just annoying that as gamers we have no power against it
