What could this noice be/mean?

Hi,

A couple of days ago my Xbox One X started out of nowhere to make sounds that could be compared to squeaking or chirping sounds. Since I'm quite a technical person I opened up my Xbox to try to locate the sound but it wasn't as easy as I would have thought since the sound isn't consistent and it's not super loud, but load enough to be noticed. But if I might take a guess I would say that the sound might come from the fan side of the Xbox but not 100% sure.

It's not dust that could be the problem since I clean my Xbox every 6th month and I always open it up to make a proper cleaning, and I keep my apartment very clean as well. So dust isn't the issue here.

I have had this Xbox since release which mean its like 6-7 years old and I use it quite often, so it wouldn't surprise me if this could be a sign of it's getting older and since nothing lasts forever, this could be something that I have to deal with.

Even though the sound isn't super loud it can still be heard from time to time, I noticing it more on dashboard or watching a movie, not as much when I play a game (which is a good thing since I most of the time play games on it).

The noise doesn't effect the performance on the Xbox at all, it still runs like a champ, no crashes or stuttering, but it's quite annoying still.

I have tried to look here and on other communities/forums for help but with no luck, some say it could be the fan, power supply, disk drive, HDD or the circuit board itself. Since the Xbox runs very smoothly and good, I'm having a hard time to expect any of these to be the problem, but I don't want to be to sure since this sound could be the calmness before the storm, maybe?

I don't expect to get a straight answer or solution on this sound, I have a audio file of the sound but I don't see a way to upload it here or maybe I'm just blind. If you know a way for me to upload an audio file, please share.

My thoughts are circling back and forth of three things at the moment:

- Just try to ignore it as much as possible, even though it can be frustrating.

- Buy a good noise canceling headset/headphones for my Xbox to make the noice less/completely unnoticeable.

- Troubleshooting even more and maybe considering to buy new components and see if it might do the trick.

If you have any thoughts or solutions that could be worth trying, please share with me. I'm open for suggestions.

I hope it will, since I have many more games that I haven't finished yet, I hope it will last a couple of years more at least.

I still have a Xbox 360 from 2014 that still runs like a champ. So hopefully I do something right with them. I suppose maintenance is a big key to how long a console lives and works.

Like I say, it could be anything, it can be really hard to confirm exactly what is making the noise.

Sounds like the choices. Sounds like the console has had a great life so far and still has time.

Yeah, but some people maybe don't feel as comfortable opening up their consoles for proper cleaning so that could become a problem with time.

If they aren't it's better to place their consoles in a place that can easily be cleaned and away from fabrics like carpets or blankets for example.

True but you have more chance it working for longer by doing what you can.
