It is a good option to buy a wifi extender for your house so you can have a better connection instead of buying a wifi adapter, as other devices will have a better connection too!

my landline plugs into the modem, then my modem is plugged into my 1st router which is downstairs then there is a ethernet cable from my 1st router connecting into the wall, i am upstairs where i have a cable coming from the wall into my second router which
is the one i use for all my wireless devices. the connection from my Primary router downstairs is running to my secondary router upstairs.

There is only one router, Just using a wired connection (Both the upstairs and downstairs)

What I meant is when I setup my xbox downstairs I use a different internet cord (Which is hooked up to the same router) and it works then. When I move it to my upstairs, I use a different cord (Which is also hooked up to the same router) but it does not
work.

I too had this problem my router was upstairs so i moved my equipment downstairs bought a wifi extender good quality one and all is great now

Wi-fi is usually slow depending on your location. If your in a basement, and your router is upstairs, then it will be difficult. Try moving the xbox to another room, and plug it in to the modem/router Via Ethernet cable.
