    Weird Microphone Issue?!


    I’m having some trouble with the microphone on my official Microsoft XBox headset. I can hear friends (and others) talking via the single-sided earpiece, but no one can hear my voice. I can confirm that I have not muted the microphone on the headset itself,
    nor on the XBox. In a party chat, the circle surrounding my profile picture flashes a few times when I connect the headset, but does not flash when I speak ...

    I first experienced the issue on my XBox One 500GB. I eliminated a few steps by trying a different controller, updating the firmware of the controller, bought a new Microsoft headset and checked all my audio/privacy settings. Nothing.

    I’ve now upgraded to the Series X and thought, “problem solved!”. I was somewhat surprised to find the problem has followed me across consoles! I’m wondering if it’s XBL profile related? I cannot find anything within the controller options, audio options
    and my privacy is pretty much fully allow/open! The controller does recognise that the headset is connected. I can’t see anywhere to test the microphone though?

    So ... I can hear friends via the headset on the Series X, but much like when I had a XBox One 500GB, I can’t talk to them. Same issue with two Microsoft headsets, one of which is brand new.

    The functionality was working in March, as I used the headset to chat with friends!

    Any help is hugely appreciated!

    Weird Gamebar Microphone problem

    We hope you are doing well today. Welcome to the Xbox Community. Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums.

    We understand that many users are attempting to broadcast their party chat audio via their Twitch broadcast. In order to broadcast party chat audio, you will need to enable this feature in the Guide when broadcasting via Twitch. Once enabled, each participant in the party will then have the option to opt-in to their audio being broadcast. The additional party members will need to be on an Xbox console or using party chat via Gamebar on PC. There is currently no option for users on the Xbox mobile app to allow their party chat audio to be broadcasted.



    We have also included links to recent updates using the Twitch app on Xbox. Please take a look for further details. Xbox Broadcasting: With the latest Microsoft Xbox update, streamers will no longer need the Twitch App on Xbox to broadcast and can instead go live in less time by broadcasting directly from their Xbox console. This update started rolling out November 16th and will be available to all streamers by the end of 2022.



    How to live stream on Xbox: To stream from a live streaming provider on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, download the app for the provider you want to use. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and select Store > Apps. Find and select the app, and then select Install.

    Hello Lloyd, there are several situations for this to happen, but first, are you playing on console or PC?

    Are you connecting the headset directly to the Xbox controller or console?

    What kind of headset would you have, and does this happen in all games, just some?

    If you can give more details.

    I would like to note, if this is just a broken controller with no fix, I have a second controller I can use for a little while, but its left bumper is broken so I don't want to use it unless I need to.
