Weird behaviour in Microsoft store

Just noticed some really strange behaviour in the store when trying to buy a game. When I logged in the price for a game was $59.95 and then when I went to pay the price changed to £59.95 - That's a really weird exchange rate. Surely the cost for UK Gamers
buying things through the store should be at an exchange rate of something nearer to $1 = £.078 (17th November 2018). I was expecting the price should be £45. What a rip off Microsoft! #greed

This is not normal behaviour. Get it replaced at the store you bought it from. Or call Microsoft Support to have it replaced.

Try a hard reboot too, that fixes all sorts of weird behaviour for me.

But I'd rather buy in US Dollars because it's $17.98 cheaper. I don't understand why UK gamers have to pay a premium. The exchange rate Microsoft are using is $1 = £1 which is crazy. And they're not paying tax on this purchase in the UK.

The safest option would be to buy any game or dlc from your region just in case anything gose wrong.

Also every UK purchases digital or physical have the tax already included in the price

Normally it's cheaper in pounds. They do however, keep euro and dollars the same.

 

What region is your account logged into? You are charged based on your location and not exchange rates with other regions/currencies, that's not greed but reality.

 

If you buy a game for one region then there is no guarantee the game will work for the region you are trying to play it in. Most media is region locked.

 

It's not just about the exchange rate, it is the way we use money. It's always been like that with games. If it's $60 it will be £60.
