We Need Ultrawide Support, even if it only works in 1440

I am aware of the monitor you are talking about and it I believe fits into the super ultrawide monitor category.

So the Xbox can output in 1080, 1440, and 4k on a 16:9 ratio. So that means for 1440 you would be looking at 2560x1440 for a ‘normal’ picture as supported by the system.

It should work on your monitor but there is a HUGE caveat in that you will be outputting to 2560x1440. Your monitor will have two very big black bars to the left and the right of the screen and maybe the top and bottom too (not 100% sure about top/bottom
bars). Any stretching done by the monitor will make the output look odd and in a normal ultrawide (3440x1440) it is less noticeable but in your monitor I think it will not look very good as everything will be stretched.

If you cant find videos of your monitor paired with an Xbox, look for videos where a 3440x1440 monitor is used instead. The results are similar and it gives you an idea of what to expect.

I have been asking for 21:9 / 3440x1440 support for a while (via twitter, reddit, etc) and hope we get some support for it. I am a huge fan of ultrawide monitors and I am in the opposite camp where I want an ultrawide for a raspberry pi/ future PC but The
Xbox don’t support it so it seams wasted at this stage in my life. Your monitor is the next level up from the resolution I want but aspect ratio is the same I can imagine your monitor is a beast in FPS and racing games. I bet it is really immersive

most tv's dont support 1440 and 120, so a monitor is a good choice, the monitor needs to support 1440 res and will only do 120hz over hdmi.

hdmi 2.1 is backward compatable so you should be ok.

Google this problem - lots of people are having this issue. Microsoft advertises that you can run 120fps @1440 resolution on xbox one S if you have a monitor that supports that resolution. I also have a monitor that supports 144fps @ 1440 and it is a combination
that is unselectable. We need a REAL solution.

It would need the developers to add support for ultrawide resolutions. Currently, console editions of games do not support that resolution.

But lets be real here though, the reason we probably won't get ultrawide support (For this generation at least) is because 1) MS hasn't seen enough adoption of Ultrawide monitors period to merit working on it (yes a catch 22 as by providing support for it more people WOULD be happy to adopt it) and 2) Game developers would probably throw a fit. And unless MS is able to MANDATE that all games released for Xbox after a certain date MUST support 21:9 play at minimum of 1080X2560p at 60FPS (NOT a good idea when it comes to making friends in the industry) Devs will likely just refuse to engage with the feature, and with it's lack of use MS would probably just remove it eventually anyway, removing the likely-hood we will EVER see Ultrawide support sadly.
