Watching Freeview DVR through the Xbox One

    Watching Freeview DVR through the Xbox One


    Hi guys



    Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. I think I put this another forum in error. I've got a friend who has decided to jump into the XBone zone and I just have a couple of setup questions to ensure he gets the best
    experience.



    He's got a 50" Panasonic LED with a Panasonic soundbar and a Panasonic Freeview HD DVR and an XBOne.



    He watches a lot of DVR stuff from the Freeview box and I'm aware that the XBone doesn't control the DVR function. Hence why I'm concerned how he could control or view the DVR programmes through the XBone.



    So on the setup I'm thinking.

    Aerial - Freeview

    Freeview - HDMI - XBone

    XBone - HDMI - TV

    XBone - Optical Audio - Soundbar



    Am I correct in that this setup, when he plays games or Blu rays & DVD's through the XBOne, this will be through the TV and audio through the soundbar?



    If he then wants to watch Freeview and his recorded programmes, he can simply switch off the XBone and the Freeview signal - audio and visual - will pass through the standby XBone and allow him to watch these trouble free?



    I understand that by switching off the XBone he won’t get to use the OneGuide but until the console can control his DVR recordings, this seems to be the best way to enjoy both DVR and the XBOne when he wants gaming and Blu Ray
    playing.



    Ultimately, will the audio optical and the HDMI visual pass through the XBone when it's in standby?

    If your TV has in-built Freeview, can you still use Live TV on your Xbox One, and how?

    If you wish to run Freeview through your Xbox One, the solution is to buy an external Freeview tuner.

    If you use your Dish Hopper through the Xbox One, then the Xbox One would need to be one whenever you watch TV or DVR. If you want to use your DVR functionality, for now, you still would use your DVR remote to control this feature. The nice thing is you
    could get notifications while watching your TV or DVR.
