Was working before, now get this message on console streaming.. even when both devices on...

Thank you for replying. I have tried to set up streaming from the console to my laptop, but I cannot get it to work. I have the app downloaded on my laptop, but I can't connect my console to my laptop. When ever I try to set up a stream, I get a message saying that I need to make sure both devices are on the same network. I know both devices are on the same WiFi network, so I am at a loss there.

If you could do it before, but are unable to now, I'd take a look at the IP settings your Xbox has when it's plugged in. See if the NAT changes when it's plugged in versus not. Check that your device you're trying to stream TO has the network identified
as "Private" so that it trusts devices on the network. Public will not trust other devices on the network and can cause some issues.

Also, are you saying when BOTH the Xbox and device are wired, or are you saying it doesn't work when the console is wired?

Same issue, used to work couple of weeks back and now get message "We were unable to connect to your console. Make sure the console is still on and connected to the same network as this device."

Already tried updating the app and checked setting on XBox One for streamming, no issues there.

Any solution?

Don't see how this actually would come as a problem...

Anywho, try go into the Settings of your console and Preferences and make sure 'Allow game streaming to other devices' is unticked.

It partially worked... For Windows 8.1 I don't get the device after I unchecked the Allow Play To streaming option. But on Windows 10 I still get the device (even with Allow Play To streaming & Allow game streaming to other devices unchecked).

As for why... It is not really a problem. It doesn't seem correct behavior (and I blame Windows for that) to just create an endless amount of devices.
