Was offered a year of gold for $39.99. Was charged $59.99

Hello,

An ad featured prominently on my Xbox Home Screen offered a year of Gold for $39.99. However, when I followed through with the offer, I was charged the full $59.99.

I tried uploading screenshots of the advertisement, but I keep getting an error message of "an error occurred while uploading the image". So I've uploaded them to imgur: Ad on Xbox

Xbox Live Gold discount bought as a Gift

I recently purchased an xbox Live Gold 1 year subscription for my grandson as a gift. Instead of charging me the special price of 39.99, it charged me $59.99. Does this mean that the special price only applies when you buy it for yourself?

I saw a special offer when I logged onto my Xbox, 12 months of Live Gold for $39.99, when I bought it I was charged $59.99. I was told to post this here to get help.

The current US pricing for 12 months of Xbox Live Gold is 59.99$. Unless the ad mentionned a special offer of some kind, this is most likely a localization error and you were shown an ad meant for a different country where the price is adjusted based on
the exchange rate.

#1 Make sure your localization settings of your console correctly reflect your location by going in Settings>System>Language & location

#2 Communicate with Microsoft Support at https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/ to try and get a refund since it's their responsability to charge it's consumers no more than what is advertized (excluding
taxes)
