Warranty less than one year?

In November I purchased an xbox series s from Costco. After registering it I found it was already 6 months into the warranty, I thought no big deal I will just call and see if they can rectify that. They couldn't. I talked to so many different people and decided to just return the thing. Bought another one from Target. After registering that one I realized it was already a month into the warranty and after I went to purchase the extended warranty (still well within the 45 day purchase window) I was told it was ineligible for the warranty even though I purchased it later than they are claiming. They said the info I was giving them doesn't match up.

What is going on at Microsoft and why can't they just do a simple thing like look at my proof of purchase? Ive tried reaching out on the phones and multiple chats only to be told to go somewhere else or one person said it can't be done and if you buy from Target, Best Buy, etc. you are just out of luck and you get the warranty subject to how long it takes to ship and purchase. Can someone give me clarification this because if this is true im just going to return the whole system and pro controller and stick with Sony. This whole experience has soured me a little after 30+ years and finally deciding to try an Xbox. At the very least the customer service at Microsoft is atrocious.

I've been on multiple chats and called 3 times now and no one has been able to help me after telling them exactly this exact situation multiple times. I have my proof of purchase, I literally have everything and they refuse to do anything. I'll try just asking for a supervisor right away next time I guess instead of wasting my time talking to anyone else but I really doubt it's going to change anything at this point considering I've been pumping hours into this and have no solution yet.

Target and Costco are not integrated into the reporting system that lets them know a unit with a specific serial number has been purchased. Until you register your purchase, they use the date of manufacture for the warranty.

If they refuse to look at your receipt then you should ask for a supervisor.

chat says xbox one controller warranty is 90 days from purchase. of course mine is out of warranty, barely used and less than year.

In that case,
contact the Xbox support with a copy of the receipt that states your purchase date.

Since Microsoft can't know how long a console sat on a store shelf, they start the warranty date from the day the console left their dispatch center.

If you can provide a proof of purchase with the purchase date, they will honor their one year warranty from that date on.
