wanting to upgrade the xbox one s hard drive with bigger drive

I'm wanting to upgrade to a larger hard drive as I cant afford to purchase I new xbox one s with larger drive ive seen many videos showing how to change hard drives and even with software/firmware support I'm not worried if I void warranty and I don't want
no external hard drives either and ive read in other forum posts and comments that it is not allowed but as I see it we buy the consoles we own the consoles and do as we please to them it becomes our property to do as we please and also they say it will effect
our accounts and get banned why when we decide to modify our property is there away around this

Replacing Xbox 360 HDD

HI there,

So I am trying to upgrade my Xbox's hard drive. It currently contains only a 20GB 2.5" sata hard drive, and I am looking to put something bigger in it.

I bought my Xbox second hand from a friend who had already peeled the sticker off for the warranty so I have no issue with completely taking the hard drive out and putting the new one in.

My problem is, that I am under the impression that all gaming profiles are saved on this hard drive.

I want to know how I can copy all of the data on this 20GB hard drive to a bigger hard drive, and whether there is a limit to what the Xbox will recognize.

Nope. File sizes get bigger. Hard drives have to get upgraded. If game developers worried about people with small hard drives such as yourself, we would never get any upgrades or updates. Battlefield on the PS3 and PC get the same updates. It's only going
to get bigger.

 

There is no way around it. Self-repair is a violation of the terms of service. If you need more hard drive space, add an external hard drive.

 

Here are the terms of service with respect to Xbox and it's warranty.

Xbox Support Terms & Conditions

You are not permitted to open, modify or tamper with the console under any circumstances. To do so violates the terms & Conditions and violates any warranty or responsibility by Microsoft to even repair your console even at your cost. Your only option is
an external hard drive which is just as fast using USB 3.0 as your internal drive. You can add unlimited storage basically and the drives are small really, I'm not sure what your objection is really.

 

Before you think"they'll never know,i'll do it anyway" Microsoft have ways of detecting whether a console has been tampered with so if you connect the console to xbox live it wont be long until the console is banned.

As mentioned,an external hard drive is your only option if you want more hard drive space.
