Want to remove Xbox Live from a console.

I'm a college-bound student who left behind his Xbox One as a parting gift to a Step-brother who's apparently too young for it and has had the right confiscated. Will just removing my account from the Xbox One be enough to not allow him access to the yearly
subscription to Xbox Live I bought him?

Xbox is telling me to get Gold even though I have it?

Another way to attempt to fix this, is to remove the account from the xbox in settings->accounts-> remove accounts. After that is removed login with that gametag again to force the console to fetch your live subscription data. In rare cases your Xbox account and live account will lose sync.

If the final outcome is to not allow him to access the Xbox Live, the profile with the Xbox Live subscription would have to be removed. If you're sharing your Gold membership, it should be enough to
remove your account. If he created a new account and the Gold access was through a code, it would be tied to his account and not yours. Hopefully that clears up some confusion.
