    i'm new to all this...only bought an xbox to stem boredom in lockdown...i've got call of duty modern warfare...i go online to play multiplayer...it takes forever to find a match...my wifi is good....any ideas? thanks

    power-cycle     on your Xbox and try finding a match afterward.

    In addition to what Ezra G has said, I think it's also a huge help to make sure that you have cross-play enabled in game, and that your NAT type is OPEN. These will dramatically increase match times.

    Its on the xbox 360, did you unlock the achievements while you were offline, as if you recover it the achievements won't be there as you wasn't online when you did them.
