    Hi Gabriela, my name is Joel, I'm here to help you with any problems or questions you may have.

    Gabriela, Xbox consoles are not compatible with the type of headset you are trying to use, it is only compatible with headphones and microphones connected to the 3.5mm audio port of the controller or the Xbox wireless headset or other third party headphones but that work by radio frequency not by Bluetooth.

    Headset not connecting to controller

    I'm having the same exact problem as BraydenB1.

    Xbox One S. New controller and headset, both purchased recently from the MSFT store. Headset is not recognized when plugged into controller and the mute symbol stays on in upper right corner of screen, no matter what I try.

    Why am I unable to select the volume setting in the controller settings? What does that suggest might be broken in the settings somewhere?

    There's got to be a setting somewhere to turn headset and mic on. Where??

    Heya!

    This could be caused by a couple things but first let's check the mic volume:

    • Press the Guide button on your controller.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Select Preferences.
    • Select Voice.
    • Increase the volume to 10.

    If this does not seem to assist let's have you test that mic on another controller and test another mic with those controllers.

    Are you using a mic adapter or just a standard mic and which version of the console are you on?

    Post back and let us know how that goes!

    I’m not seeing how to get to “volume” on preferences
    Could you send us your mic make and model and a photo of what you do see in the setting screen?

    Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand having issue with your mic. Have you tried the mic on your phone or other device and does it work? On the home screen of the console in top right corner is there a line through the mic symbol? It is possible
    the mic is no longer working correctly. Personally had this happen on one of mine heard everything but mic stopped working. Try these and let us know.

    Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums!

    I have also had this issue before as well. It means the controller is not recognizing the headset plugged in. I have had to disconnect and reconnect the headset to the controller.

    Now, it is best to test other headsets and controllers to see what the main issue would be.
    In System -> Settings -> Kinect & Devices -> Devices & Accessories -> …, there
    is Connected Headset
    and
    Volume.
    Is the option for Volume greyed out or available to click on?

    What type of headset are you using as well? Is the audio is properly configured on the console? (Mainly chat mixer, volume, toggle mic on/off, audio format…..)
