voice setting and text

... thanks for replies, you can turn voice and text communication off in privacy settings but only both or neither. I would still like to send and receive text messages so would need separate settings for voice and text. Might try the private party for one
idea.

Just set your online safety settings to "friends only" for voice and text.

On Xbox One

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, then select System > Settings > Ease of Access > Game transcription.
2. To transcribe other players' voices into text, select Speech-to-text on.
3. To have your chat text read aloud to other players, select Text-to-speech on. To choose the voice that other players will hear when your chat text is read aloud, select one of the available voices in the Text-to-speech voice menu.
4. To have games read aloud certain words that appear on the screen, select Let games read to me.

On Windows 10

1. Open the Xbox app and go to Settings > General > Game chat transcription.
2. To transcribe other players' voices into text, select Speech-to-text on.
3. To have your chat text read aloud to other players, select Text-to-speech on.
4. To choose the voice that other players will hear when your chat text is read aloud, select one of the available voices in the Text-to-speech voice menu.

I have the same issue and found similar threads indicating that it could be related to the privacy setting [Communicate with voice and text (Xbox 360: Voice and Text)]. I changed it from Friends to Everybody but it did not work.

I noticed in settings its says text and voice from friends only or everyone.
