    Videotron Is blocking signal passed through Xbox One console?


    I have attempted to connect the output of my cable decoder to the HDMI input of my Xbox One, wanting to switch between watching television and playing games out of the Xbox One. The problem is that, after a few hours, my cable provider detects that its output
    is not going directly to a television and blocks the signal, rendering this configuration effectively useless. I called Videotron about it and it is their policy to prevent users from doing this, fearing that their signal is pirated.

    Needless to say, this unacceptable to me.

    Any suggestions? Would there be an option for the Xbox One to fool Videotron decoder to think that it is actually connected to a television set?

    Or could there be some kind of device I could buy that I could plug between the decider and the Xbox One that would send the required feedback?

    Or is there a way to connect the cable to the Xbox One directly?

    HDMI Pass Through

    People have the misconception of HDMI pass through. All this means is that the HDMI signal from your cable box is "passed through" the Xbox one. If your Xbox isn't on, it won't be able to pass the signal through.

    Anybody got the xbox one live tv to work with videotron illico?

    I just got my Xbox one a few says ago, and in my case it works just fine with videotron illico, Of course the one guide isn't working since at this point it's only in the states. But maybe your setup is not right.

    Here is the way I am connected

    PVR from illico -> Xbox one -> Sound system -> tv

    If you don't have a AVR then

    PVR from illico -> Xbox one -> tv

    All are connected thru HDMI cables latest version i.e. 2.0.except for the one supply in the box (Xbox) (I don't know what spec is that one, but I am using it with no problem)

    Also your cable signal from videotron has to be very good. Basically if your signal is too low then your xbox wont be able to acquire it.

    Depending on your PVR or cable box. Look on the web to find the sequence of button to press so you can see the signal strength. Most modems are rated from -15dB to +15dB, however it's best to have it between +8dB and -8dB. Anything less or more than that
    and you may have quality issues.

    If you signal is too low, then you have 2 choice

    1: Call videotron and have then fix it

    2: Get a signal booster

    BTW. Xbox also control my AVR and TV with voice command perfectly in case you need to know

    AVR = Sony

    TV = LG

    4K Pass-through on Xbox One S?

    Hello, changed xbox one for xbox one "s" 2 weeks ago. Changed HD terminal for a 4K UHD terminal. Pass-through doesn't work in 4K. I think xbox one s caracteristics are not clear. I upgraded the console and the terminal for the 4K pass-through not for changing
    hdmi sources all the time... Not happy about this. I know the xbox one s caracteristics do not say "4K pass-through enable" but as a central entertainment device as MS says, 4K pass-through should be included in the "4K content" terminology. At first I didn't
    think 4K pass-through was not supported because it was obvious it was supported.

    Yes, Xbox one does not do a passive pass-through. It must be on to pass through the HDMI signals.
