Video Games - The new scapegoat for old politicians

After a horrible weekend when we witnessed some of the most basic human fears come back to hunt us, it is time for the movers and shakers to shift blame in order to avoid in-depth inquiries. Every reporter and newsperson had almost the same questions "What
happened? How did things went so far?" and almost in unison the answer from the old politicians was "Video Games". Yes it is the fault of those "violent, racist and hate spewing video games".... It can't be otherwise; these young men dressed in camo, wielding
assault guns have been influenced by video games when they decided to write down their extremist agenda in social medias and open fire among the crowd...

In my opinion as gamer and intelligent human being, this whole futile rhetoric is a cowardly, futile attempt to escape responsibility. After blaming movies for being too violent and music for influencing young minds, this tired class of politicians is blaming
video games. Seems to be a pattern here when culture is being accused for being out of the grasp of old generations.

When will end this futile attempt to shift blame to video games after every national emergency? As gamers does this kind of behavior provokes indignation in you?

I didn't get to read it but there was an article headline I noticed recently along the lines of "There are video game systems in every major country but only one has a shooter problem". Its hard to find an exact reason things like this can happen but the
reality is, there is a lot of hate in this nation.

Here's to hoping for a better future before we destroy this planet.

Here in England & the rest of the U.K. we have millions playing video games & plenty of people with mental health issues.

What we don't have is mass shootings all the time.We also don't have easy access to guns.

If video games were the problem then surely Japan would have mass killings all the time?

We are surrounded by violence. In movies, news, tabloids, history, life around us. Off course, in video games also. It is a violent society and it has to change, not video games. People use it to let some steam out, among other things. And searching for
someone else to blame will never end. One day, when all gamers unite and that is a billion of people, then they will stop. Maybe it will never happen. But, who knows. Do not be bothered. It will continue.

I've heard it so much now, that it's not surprising when it is mentioned again, when something like this happens.

Games will always be blamed for something because it is easy to blame them, especially violent games like COD and GTA. It's just one of those things now that I take with a pinch of salt.

I don't think you will ever find the real reason why people do these horrible acts, it's just easier to blame something else instead of finding the actual reason.

I read how they blame the games but really, do you think that's the problem? accessing a weapon is so easy and the worst in a legal way, they should restrict that form of adquisition
