I'm clearing my laptop of all video audio recorders and came across these video devices in the registry. Can anyone tell me what they are, and why the duplicates?

The only what I'm able to tell you based on the information available in the DxDiag diagnostics file is that there are no active video recording devices on your laptop.

If you wish, you can open Windows Device manager. In the View menu select "Show hidden devices". If there are any disabled, but still installed devices available, they will be shown there.

Your original question was about the Video key in the registry. I'm not able to tell you exactly what video capture device these keys refer to, but suspect that they are related to some virtual devices, perhaps broadcasting application. (OBS is just an example). You might have disabled/uninstalled this application, but the registry key were not cleared.

What's OBS? A physical device? Purpose? When you say "device was removed..." , again, are you referring to a physical device, meaning someone would have to have had personal access to my laptop, or a s/w or driver that could have been removed remotely? Also, since the device is no longer present, I can delete some of the keys in the Video folder, right? Which ones? Can i delete the entire folder?

Also, is it possible the dirfectx diagnosis missed other types of recording devices? In other words, are there available recording devices not built on the directx platform? If so, then the diagnosis would miss them, correct? And how do i go about detecting these (should they exist)?

If you want to know which video recording devices are installed on your computer, then,

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.

Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file.

Since there is no Attachment option yet available on this Forum, you may post the saved file to a File Sharing site (e.g. OneDrive) and provide here a link to this site.

I see. Got it. Let's hear from my other colleagues here who can better explain it for you.

    Take care!

I don't think that the registry entries refer to any "physical device". I have seen such multiple video channels with some virtual video/audio capture devices, i.e not a physical device, but just some software. OBS is just one of possible examples, but there can be many other similar applications

Open Broadcaster Software | OBS (obsproject.com)

How did you disable the builtin camera and microphone on your laptop?
