Very slight drifting in new controller, should I worry?

Hi,

I'm getting a bit tired of having to post questions here, as this is already the 4th controller I buy in 2 weeks, so I'll try to make it quick.

I play in steam, when playing (at least in all the games that I've tested), there is no drifting, even with steam's configuration for deadzones set to basically no deadzone, there is not even a bit of drifting, but when I use the right joystick as a mouse
(done by pressing the xbox logo while moving that joystick) there is some tiny drifting towards the bottom-left side, this can be corrected by either setting up a little deadzone in steam's configuration or by simply not using it (I don't think I'll ever use
it anyway).

I just wanted to ask if this is something I should care about, since as I've tested, it doesn't affect me while playing, not even in camera movements or any function that depends on that joystick, the drifting just appears when pressing the xbox logo since
it detects the drift as a joystick movement.

I'm asking this because I know that eventually the controller will catch up some drifting in the future and I'm a bit tired of being so unlucky with controllers (I even got this last one from a more reputeed shop than the other 3) and having to RMA each
of them 2 days after getting them.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, I will leave it this way. I guess that if I have any problem with it I will be able to use the warranty as the shop provides a 2 year warranty

Thanks for coming to the forums. With this issue I would not worry about it personally. As you stated you are not going to use it anyways. When doing the mouse control like that there may be a little drift as the controller is not intended to be used as
such.

It's very difficult to fix drift without the proper tools, and since your controller is new you should be able to send it back and get it replaced.

The very very slight drift you mention is more clear when playing apex in the linear setting and the deadzone has to be set to large which defeats the object of using this controller. I am currently on my second series 2 within a week and now waiting for
the store to phone me back once they get the latest lot numbered controllers in stock as apparently the issues have been fixed.

Does the Xbox one 2K20 controller have a higher chance of getting stick drift? I bought a brand new console yesterday and after 4 hours of playing I was getting stick drift to the right. If these 2K20 controllers are not made as good as others,
maybe I should get a different game with my console? Please let me know if you had the same issue. Thanks.

I think it's very much pot-luck when it comes to stick drift. I've had some controllers that I've used for years without any issue, and another than is about 18 months old with major stick drift despite rarely being used. I don't know if any particular type
or model is more prone to stick drift. Since your controller is so new, you should hopefully be able to get it replaced by the store.
