    Hi, the fan on my Xbox One X has decided to become hyperactive.

    My One X is only 18 months old. Its been running fine until Friday 15th May. I know that with enhanced games it makes it work a bit harder, but that is not the problem here. For example, I’ve been playing AC Odyssey the past month, with no fan noise issues
    until Friday, so it’s not as if it’s the game over loading it. Now it sounds like its going to take off. I have to double the volume on the tv from its usual setting to compensate.

    I have also tried playing Forza Horizon 4 too- same problem. Sounds like a plane in my room. The fan doesnt calm down unless i switch the xbox off. If i am in a game and go to the home screen, it’s still loud.

    the only time the fan is running normally is when i first switch the xbox on and stay in the home screen.

    My xbox is on top of a cabinet with 6” from the wall, 10” from a stereo, and open air on the other 2 sides.

    Would you be able to tell me what is going on with my xbox, and what i can do to fix it please?

    I’ve tried contacting some sort of help desk about it, was told i would recieve a phone call in 5 minutes, but that was 6 hours ago.

    Make sure you don't have a disc in the xbox, if your game runs on disc try to clean out the top or get more space. The console gets hot quick.

    Oh and the games i’ve been playing are downloads and not on disc, there is no disc in the drive, and i have over 100gb left.

    None of the above has changed since i started playing AC Odyssey a month ago, and this only started happening last friday

    So thanks for all the suggestions as to what could be the issue.

    I blew the vents with compressed air, and did a bit of a hoover.

    I then repositioned the xbox so it was now 10” away from the wall, although i do not understand why this would suddenly have been an issue after it being 6” away from the wall for a year and a half...

    I went to play a game again and the fan was still over revving. It really is not ‘normal’ as one person helpfully suggested. If i could, i would add a video to this, but i can’t seem to.

    My next issue is contacting the relevent people. As i mentioned in the orignal post, i got to a point where the webpage said someone would phone me in 5 minutes, that was over 24 hours ago...

    The Xbox is registered. When i click on ‘start service online’ all that does is just reload the page over and over and never actually loads.

    How do i contact someone that can help me contact the service desk, if the webpage doesnt work and i am not getting a call back after requesting one please?

    It sounds like it may be a ventilation/heating issue. Check to make sure the sides(intake) and rear(outtake) vents are not blocked with any dust/debris. A can of compressed air may help clear any blockages.

    It may also be possible an internal component may be the issue. In which case you may need to send in for repairs.

    your console should be in a space with a lot of air, you can also try cleaning the grills with compressed air. If you do not solve your problem, I suggest you send your device for assistance
