Using xbox one to watch tv without kinnect

I have an comcast xfinity cable box with the xr2. I am having trouble setting up the "cable or satellite" box section under device control. I would like to be able to change channels with the controller or using smart glass but it's extremely confusing.

TV Guide Issues

I am having issues switching channels using kinnect on tv guide. When I say xbox watch espn , i see microphone icon on my tc but the channel doesn't change .

What else I can do ...

How do I benefit from running my dish through my xbox one?

Sorry no one helped you on this. I too have dish and use the hdmi pass through. One benefit is that you do not need to switch inputs, just apps. You can use cortana if you have a kinnect or if you are using your headset. Also this will show you what is trending
and you can change channels by voice or with the controller if you have a kinnect- just make sure that your dish receiver has line of site to the kinnect, mine bounces off a wall behind me and back to the receiver. You can just say, hey cortana watch tv. then
you can tell it to change to X channel, like watch history channel or whatever. Kinnect is probably one of the best features of this, but not switching inputs is nice too.

Doing the same thing and have Comcast as well!

So without the Kinect you will need a IR cable to plug into the back of your Xbox One.

Simply put without that cord or without the Kinect the task you are trying to accomplish is impossible!

i just got the new xbox one without kinnect

didnt want it so went for this one,dont like cameras anyway,im parinoid hahaha the nsa are watching!!!!

Too late for me. I was refunded for the kinnect itself by the seller and later discovered that nobody sells the kinnect separately. I can do without it for a time but for the xbox one to be used to its full potential as advertised, I really can't do
without a kinnect.
