Using Xbox controller in windows

I bought Xbox controller for no reason. Actually, because I have only personal PC, playing games with console was in my bucket list so I bought Xbox controller. Anyway, exept for playing games, controller has no use. Totally money wasting. I want use Xbox
controller in Windows mode for example sulfing internet by using controller. It would be cool. I want to use my Xbox Controller more efficient and economical ways. I don't just throw my money away.

just to be sure are you using a wired controller or are you using a wireless controller with play and charge cable.

Sooooo you bought an Xbox Controller for no reason. And are now suggesting to Microsoft to allow you to use the controller to surf the internet?

Is this some sort of early April fools joke?

Using internet explorer is bad enough, but using a controller through internet explorer could possibly be the worst thing ever thought of.

News for you sir, I think you've wasted your money.

 

There are a couple of ways I know of to use your controller for something other than gaming.

A program called Gopher360 will let you set your controller up as a mouse. This is fine for navigating, even typing URLs as long as you've enabled the onscreen keyboard before hand. Problem is that it can cause issue with games that require the use of the controller,
as games will still think you are using a mouse.

The best option, though it will take more work is to use Steam in Big Picture mode. This is Valve's attempt to mimic a console like environment and it does work really well but web browsing really isn't that intuitive with the default setup and so you'll need
to spend time getting things how you like it.

Honestly if you want to browse and play games with a controller then a console really does provide the best experience.
