Using Gift Cards in another region

Hi! I live in Brazil but I have an US account and Xbox profile, my question is: If I buy a Gift Card, for exemple in the value of R$50,00, and apply it to my account, will the value be converted to dollar (In this case the value will be converted to more or less $9.70) or will it stay the same value but in dollar (Like $50.00)? And, will I be able to make purchases with this money on my Xbox 360 marketplace?

Currency will only work for the region it is created for. So it would not convert to US dollars.

If your account region and your physical location do not match, you can run into issues purchasing content from the 360 marketplace due to region locks.

This is probably because your friend bought the gift card from another region, maybe for some cost purpose, and gift card are region locked.

If you bought a gift card from another region, go to your setting and change the region of the xbox to the region you bought the gift card from, Redeem it, and then you can bo back to your previous region.

In order to purchase a gift card for someone who lives in another region you have to buy it from a another retailer that sells that region code using your credit card. You can't gift it over Xbox. I just brought a gift card for my cousin who lives in Canada
from online and they had no problem redeeming the code.

The option to change regions is made available in the case a user moves from one country to another. It's not as a way to bypass region restrictions.

Gift cards can be used to purchase games. Gift cards will only work for the region it is created for, so if you buy a US card, you have to also have a US account. However, again, if your region does not match your physical location, it can cause issues with purchases.
