Question why is it a ten dollar fee to change your username because that seem very dumb. Also wouldn’t you wanna make it like the Epic policy where you can only change it every 2 weeks.

Well, that is a way to allow users to change their gamertags when they want to, by not enforcing a time limit for that change. There are a few ways to get users to not keep changing their gamertags every day or so.

A gamertag change is charged if the user has changed it for free once. On Xbox Live, the gamertag is a way to identify the user, almost something that defines the user through it's name on the platform. To avoid difficulties in users changing name every now and then, and to create a circle of friends that know eachother through their gamertags, Microsoft allows the user to change it's own name by charging a fee on the second time (and onward) if they want a new name.

Well you do know that many games still charge for name changes right ?

Epic and steam is rare.cases

Battle.net

Most.mmorpgs etc

Not to mention even sony charges

But then wouldn’t it be outdated now most people don’t have a fee for users or other things it’s usually a time limit
