Use headphones through 3.5mm jack with Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller and Win 10 PC

Connected my Elite Series 2 controller - Have updated it through the accessories app, fiddled with the settings -

works with games for input and sound with USB connected. However cannot get sound with Bluetooth connection.

The settings for audio input to xbox controller disappears when not plugged by USB.

Is there a way to keep sound through the controller with Bluetooth connection or do I have to have a physical connection for windows to use it as a sound output?

are you sure buying the dongle will work?

I am led to understand one of the perks of the elite 2 is that you arent supposed to need the dongle......

Bluetooth does not have the bandwidth for Xbox audio. You need to either purchase the wireless controller adapter or use a USB connection for headset support

The 3.5mm headphone jack on Xbox One/Series X|S controllers (including Elite controllers) does not work when connected via Bluetooth. It will only work via USB or the official Xbox wireless adaptor.

If you're using Bluetooth to play wireless with the controller then audio won't come through the 3.5mm headphone jack. Nothing wrong with your setup, it's a hardware limitation of the controller.

To use all the features of the controller while wireless requires the purchase of an Xbox One wireless adaptor for Windows.
