I have an old email that I want to get onto but I can’t log into as it needs a verification through a phone number that I used to have but need it to log onto some stuff on my pc

This suggests that the phone number has already been used on a different Microsoft account. If possible, have you tried adding a different phone number to see if the same error occurs?
