    Please help! Bought my son Zidl 7.1 USB surround headphones for his Xbox / PS4. PS4 works perfectly but the Xbox makes no sound.

    I gather that I am supposed to plug headphones into the Controller and not the console. Well, the controller has Micro USB not USB. If I use a Micro USB Adapter will it do the trick, or do I need to plug the headphones into something else?

    Very disappointing as tested the headphones on my PS4 and they work perfectly. Now Christmas morning and this issue making my son very sad.

    Game audio through stereo headset?

    Xbox has stated they are trying to improve the quality of the headphones via software updates to include minimal surround sound, but you won't find anything remarkable. Left, right, front is the best you can expect.

    On a side note, the Xbox one headphones and mic both work when directly plugged into the ps4 controller. You just have to adjust the volume via ps4 button menu. The surround is the same on it through those headphones on the ps4 as explained above, on the

    so I was wondering if currently does the Xbox one controllers support 7.1 surround sound for gaming headsets or will the new controller with the headphone jack support surround sound? Please and thank you

    The micro-usb port on the controller is not designed for use for headphones.

    The Xbox One Controller is designed for using a headset with a 3.5mm jack. There is no general USB support on the Xbox One console for USB headsets.

    You'll need to buy a headset that's compatible with the console.

    Thanks, now I check, but I would like information, with the audio settings of the headphones on XBOX One, any non-surround headphones, even stereo become virtual surround ??
    Or do I need a certain type of headphones to have surround sound?

    I plug mine into my surround receiver's headphones jack to get sound. The only thing the USB cable does is supply the power. For chat you can wear the Xbox One headset around your neck and then position the mic to where it's useful.
