    USB ports not working on my Xbox series S.

    Somehow a small amount of liquid spilled next to my xbox and while I did not notice anything initially, the next day I noticed all 3 of my USB ports (even those completely dry the entire time) weren’t working.

    I’ve tried holding down on the power button for 10 seconds, unplugging everything, and waiting.

    However, nothing I’ve done allows me to use my external hard drive or either of my other ports. My HDMI and power source work fine.

    Only the Seagate Expansion and the WD Black C50 work for Series X|S games. All other SSD's can only be connected via the USB port and they are too slow for Series X|S games

    Hi,

    No, sorry it won't work. The USB ports on the Series X|S are USB 3.1 which have a maximum speed of 500MB/s. This means, no matter what drive you buy, no matter what speed it's rated at, you're stuck at the max speed of the USB port.

    The only drives that can be used for Series X|S games are either the internal or the storage expansion card.

    I have the Expansion card for my Series X. I also have an external 2TB USB SSD in an enclosure. I can only use the external SSD for Xbox One games. They do load a lot faster than a mechanical hard drive, but I can't play my Series X games off it.

    None of it is compatible. The Series S does not support the Kinect. The Kinect does not have a USB port for the PC. So none of it would work together.

    The Xbox Series S/X has 3 USB ports, just like the Xbox One. From the sound of it, you have the Xbox 360 S. If that is the case, the 2tb drive you own will work, only if the drive is a USB 3.0/3.1 drive. Please note, the only games that will work on the
    drive will be 0g Xbox games. Xbox 360 games & Xbox One games. Any series S/X games will have to be stored on the consoles own storage, which includes the consoles external SSD.

    Could you please try to do a power reset on your console?

    Power Reset:

    1. If you have an external HD, please unplug it and let it unplugged for testing purposes.

    ​​​2. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

    3. Unplug all the cables (power, HDMI, etc..) and wait 5 minutes.

    4. After 5 minutes, plug all the cables in again (except for the external HD) and then turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console.

    See if this helps. If it doesn't solve your issue, please let me know and we'll proceed to further troubleshooting.
