Just to confirm. The update hangs at 1.5GB? or always at 51% as you state in the beginning of your thread?

Also, if you try downloading a new game, something similar happens or is this happening only when you want to update ARK?

What error code are you receiving when the update fails?

And please tell me:

Are you using Windows 10 or 11?

Besides restarting the PC, did you tried something else or that's all?

Both the Xbox Series X and S support external USB drives. However, unlike previous Xbox consoles that allowed you to play those games from the external USB drive, you won't be able to play games optimized for Series X|S consoles from USB drives. External storage requirements are that the capacity must be 128GB or more

I haven't found specific information on an upper limit for external storage drive size on the Xbox Series and then try again on the Xbox. If that doesn't work, I would recommend you contact Xbox support for further help
