Urgent Account Recovery Issue – Locked Out for Nearly a Year

I have been locked out of my Microsoft account for nearly a year due to multiple failed login attempts. Despite following all recommended recovery steps—including filling out the account recovery form multiple times—I have been unable to regain access. The responses I receive state that my provided information is “not enough,” even though I have submitted all the details I can remember.

I no longer have access to the phone number linked to my account, which seems to be a major barrier in the recovery process. I understand the need for security, but it feels unreasonable that a long-term user should be permanently locked out with no viable alternative for proving account ownership.

I have tried:

• Filling out the recovery form multiple times with detailed information.

• Attempting to access support through various channels.

• Trying to log in from familiar devices and networks.

Despite these efforts, I have received no real assistance—only automated responses rejecting my recovery attempts. At this point, I need direct help from a real support agent who can work with me to verify my identity in another way.

This account is important to me, and I would appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue. Please escalate my case to someone who can assist me in regaining access.

Unfortunately, if you are able to submit the account recovery form then this is the only method you are able to use to try and recover your account. If they decide that you haven't provided enough information, then there is nothing more we can suggest other then to keep trying to complete the form.

Microsoft takes account security and privacy seriously. Thus, only a small team is able to access your account information and reset it. This team can only be reached via the recovery form. Even if I escalated this thread, there is no one on this community who is able to help regarding this and would direct you to complete the account recovery form.

Others have reached out to Microsoft and Xbox support about recovering their account. However, this is only in cases where they are unable to complete the account recovery form.

I am sorry to hear about the experience you've had. With regards to account security, that is strange that your account got hacked I agree since 2FA is really hard to bypass.

When you tried recovering your account via the account.live.com/pw or password reset page, do you see any suspicious information added on your account? Usually if someone hacked our Microsoft account, the phone number and email address will be changed.

In case you are seeing a suspicious information when recovering it, it would be much better to contact the Microsoft Xbox support to see if they can check the status of your account. Let me provide the guide how you can reach them, just go through this link https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us

On the page, click on "Contact us" > Subscriptions & billing > I can't redeem a code > Type in "Support" then there you should see option to message or request a callback from the Xbox team. The option I provided here is diferent, this is just a way to easily find the option to reach the Xbox support.

like to second OPs post. Impossible to contact customer support for unusual issues like this. Been randomly locked out of my brand-new XSX linked account (with GamePass) for a day now. Customer support bots just route me to unhelpful common issues that do not fit my problem. Hope you get a reply OP been a bummer for me. Locked out and recovery just gave me an error now I'm locked out for even recovery. Makes you wonder what you paid for exactly
