Upon Death of a main account holder.

I recently lost my husband. To those that have lost someone, you understand even the littlest reminders can be heart wrenching. I contacted Xbox One support via of chat box and explained that we had bought mostly all of our games on his account, and wanted
to know the process of how to switch licenses to my account. In this situation, most businesses require proof of account access and a copy or scan of the death certificate to adjust accounts or remove them entirely. Microsoft does not have that contingency
in place for such events, which confounds me. So I have one of two options: continue to have my heart crushed by leaving him logged in and access the games that way or buy those very expensive games again on my account. This is beyond me that a huge corporation
does not have solutions for such events and that they are basically forcing me to have my heart broken every time I log in.

Why not institute a policy to reassure those that are grieving a easy resolution to such events?

Why not set up in the profile a area that in the event of death you can bequeath your licenses to an account that you can link to your own?

These are easy fixes that would go a long way with your customers. After today, I am so sickened by this, that I am seriously considering changing consoles or going back to PC.

Thank you for your response. I do understands terms of service agreement, and would agree with them in every instance but this one; however, your solution is a solid one and I appreciate that. I wish the person I chatted with yesterday could have given
me a similar solution, so that I would not have been so disappointed in the outcome of customer service I had gotten yesterday. I still do not agree with the outcome, but am grateful for some sort of resolution.

I'm sorry for your loss. Jeremy suggested exactly what I was going to suggest. Something else to consider - my brother-in-law died a while ago (he was in his 40's). My initial reaction was to get everything transferred to my sister or me as needed. To
remove that constant remembrance of losing him.

Today - seven years later we still find the odd thing associated with him. The memories that are stirred up now, while bittersweet aren't devastating and act as a reminder of him, and keeping him in our lives.

Everyone deals with it different, and I hope you find success in whatever way works for you. Once again, sorry for your loss.

Thank you for contacting Forum support and I'm very sorry to hear that you have lost your significant other.

As per the Microsoft Service agreement: (Software License) v. transfer the software, any software licenses, or any rights to access or use the Services;
(Neither accounts game licenses or Data can be merged or transferred)

Although, the email linked to the account can be changed. Upon research the best support option I can offer is that you change the account
Alias.

Once done, you will not be signing into the main email linked to your significant other's account but your own email.

When the email is changed you will also have access to everything on the account.

For example: The ability to change personal information on the account and to cancel or add new services like Xbox live gold. ETC..

(Use an email that is not linked to any other accounts)

support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-parental-control sounds like your under parental controls or on a child account . You'll need
the main account holders permission to change it if your not the main account holder . If you are the main account holder the link will help.

EA have an age restriction for online play in their titles, you will need to wait until the account holder reaches the appropriate age to access online features for this specific game.

There is no way to change the age of the account holder, it is set upon creation of the account and is not adjustable.
