Upgrading a game pass gift card to ultimate

My son was just given a 6 month game pass core subscription gift card that he entered into his Xbox 5 days ago. I upgraded him to a game pass ultimate subscription a day later and it is not taking into account any of his credit for the 6 months of the game pass core gift card. I am being charged the full anmount after being told I would only be charged the additional $8 that game pass ultimate costs. How do I fix this?

the Game pass gift card will be converted and added to your current Ultimate subscription via a specific conversion factor.

There is no credit in price that's given when you upgrade to Ultimate. You still have to pay the full price.

If the Core was added on your son's account and you are paying for Ultimate on your account, it wouldn't covert the Core to Ultimate since it's on 2 different accounts and you wouldn't get the extra time added to the Ultimate.

I am currently paying full price for ultimate with no conversion for the 6 months of game pass core my son had credit for. Is there a way for me to fix this?

It's actually working as intended. You don't get a discount on the price of Ultimate when you upgrade. It just converts what you already have into Ultimate as well.
