Reading through the description you've given us it seems more like an ownership/license issue with Forza Horizon 4 rather than a Home console issue. You've set it up correctly so that your brother's games would be shared with you, which is why you see those
games under Ready to install, but it seems that your brother does not have ownership of the game if there is nothing in either of your account's purchase history or if the game is not ready to install. If you bought it digitally from the Microsoft Store, it
would be listed in your account's
order history. Even if something went wrong with the transaction, it would still be there listed with a status of the order, it wouldn't just disappear.

Also the demo and full game are separate titles with their own individual game tiles and the full game would not replace the demo. The demo and full game would appear side by side in your games library if they were both installed.

It's possible you were playing this game from a third account on your Xbox that owns this game and was sharing to your account since you cannot find the proof of purchase on either your account or your brother's.

Thank you for the update. There must be another account on your brother's Xbox that is sharing the game with him if you do not see Forza Horizon 4 showing as "Completed" in his order history. This account has your brother's Xbox as the Home console and is
sharing the license to his account on his Xbox. You will need to try signing into his account on your Xbox, make sure those are the only two accounts on your Xbox, and try launching the game. If it does not work, your brother's
account does not own the game and this is still verified by the game not appearing in his order history.

I recommend viewing his accounts order history on another device on the website just to make sure you are not accidentally viewing your own order history because you can have multiple accounts signed into the Xbox One and it could be pulling up yours if
your account is still signed in on your Xbox. Type in
account.microsoft.com/orders and I would go back as far as October 01, 2018 using the filters to show the purchase history starting from the day before this game released.

If the game is connected to your brother you should see if he appears full or demo. When you go to the Games screen that you own both the non-installed and the installed ones see if it is the demo version or full.
