Updating Xbox, do I need to reinstall everything on my external hard-drive?

No reinstalling. Just plug the drive in and play. If you want faster load times, move the game to the internal storage.

The internal hard drive on the new Xbox series x is totally blank there is nothing on the internal hard drive zero zip so all my games are on the external hard drive told the machine to update to the external hard drive it will not update to the external hard drive do I have a defective machine I just bought it does it need to be returned can you help or not and if you can how to!?

Sorry for that, Ryan. Do you have an external hard drive plugged into your console? A corrupted hard drive may cause these issues as well.

Also if there is no external hard drive, we may need to reset the console removing everything, Ryan. This will uninstall all of your games and apps but you can reinstall them later on.

Hi, I had the exact same problem and it occurred on my xbox one and Xbox series x, it was in a external hard drive on my series x so I unistalled everything and reinstalled just the base game onto the internal hard drive then the zombies chronicles and it fixed the problem
