Updating the Original Xbox One

Hello I have Original Xbox one, I usually keep it offline but I noticed that when I go online the Xbox almost always prompts me to update it. This Original Xbox is very old so why do they still push updates on it? Also Can it be that when I download an update and then disconnect the console from internet, the update gets deleted or does it stay on the console? What I'm basically asking am I downloading the same update or once its downloaded it stays there no matter if you take the console offline.

Would you be able to connect your console to your router via ethernet and try updating it that way?

Ethernet's the one thing I heard about that I haven't tried, mainly because I don't have a cable right now (hopefully I can get one tomorrow) but thanks for the suggestion.

hey man did you figure out the solution yet. I seem to have exact problem from about 2 weeks. update is stuck at 59% .Downloading and verifying is done. it is stuck at applying.

should i just throw my xbox one s in garbage? cauz I am not looking forward to pay 150$ for repair.

Please help if you can, I am really stuck.

Do i get any money for broken xbox anywhere or it goes in dumpster?

Managed to get hold of an ethernet cable from my neighbour, still not working.

The console itself may be old, but the One family is still very much in use so updates are still released occasionally. Once you update, the update is not deleted when you go offline. So you're not installing the same update each time.
