Updating the Kinect

Thank you for keeping us updated. We recommend making sure the Xbox 360 Kinect is up to date. The article entitled

Kinect Setup on Xbox 360 will explain how to update the Kinect. If the Kinect is still not functioning correctly after updating it, the Kinect may need to be replaced. Be sure to let us know the results!

Is your kinect connected to the xbox and powered on at the time of the update. You may have a game update and I think there may be a kinect update also.

Try updating with the Kinect disconnected.

I was trying the unofficial update over USB that VatriXxX posted in other threads. I finally got it work by unplugging the Kinect.

I can't try it now but I'm wondering if updating over the network might work with no Kinect!

If you haven’t connected to Xbox Live recently, your Xbox One console may need an update. To update your console, connect to Xbox Live by using a wired or wireless connection.

When your console is connected to Xbox Live, available updates are automatically installed. After the updates are installed, test your Kinect sensor and try these steps again if necessary.

If you didn’t have your Kinect sensor plugged in when your console took an update, follow these steps to update your sensor:

Scroll left from the Home screen to open the guide.

Select Settings.

Select All Settings.

Select Kinect & devices.

Select Kinect.

Verify that Kinect on is selected.

Short answer is, the console and the Kinect need to be connected to the web in order to update. The console software might be out of date so we suggest connecting it (for a brief moment) to update everything and give it a shot after. Give it a shot and let
us know how it goes!
