  1. Updated Microsoft Account Email, Now My Xbox Thinks I Have A Brand New Account

I lost access to a very old email account that was originally used when setting up my original Microsoft/Xbox Live account. I was able to update my Microsoft account email and the primary alias is now my good and current email account and that is the only alias associated with my account anymore. My Xbox was prompting me to login since this change but, was looking for the password associated with that old email address that's been removed from my Microsoft account. I tried removing this account from my Xbox, powered it off, turned back on, as detailed in some instructions I found online. Now when I go to log my Xbox in under my new current email address and password for my Microsoft account, the Xbox walks through a typical setup of a brand-new account, creation of gamertag and all that. I tried putting in my original gamertag but I receive an error, I am assuming because it already exists out there. Did I lose everything associated with that old gamertag because of updating my email address for my account? If I try just creating a new gamertag during logon, I lose everything. Games are gone. Achievements. My Game Pass Core subscription I just recently paid for is gone. Can anyone please help? I'm hoping my old and original gamertag can somehow be linked to my account again.

    :)

Updated Microsoft Account Email, Now My Xbox Thinks I Have A Brand New Account

    Hello Justin Grodensky,

Thank you for your contribution to the Microsoft community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Xbox account. It sounds like the issue may be related to the fact that your Xbox is still looking for the old email address associated with your account. Just a reminder, here on community we are not able to double check accounts and devices to check for the possible issue. What we can do here is provide/guide customers with possible troubleshooting steps for the issue.

Basing on the statement you provided above, here are some troubleshooting steps that you may try:

    1. Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and sign in with your new email address and password.

    2. Once you're signed in, go to the "Security" tab and select "More security options."

    3. Under "Additional security options," select "Manage advanced security."

    4. Under "Devices," select "Xbox."

    5. Select "Remove" to remove your Xbox from the list of devices associated with your account.

    6. Restart your Xbox and sign in with your new email address and password.

    7. If prompted to create a new gamertag, select "No thanks" and sign in with your existing gamertag.

If these steps don't work, you may need to contact Xbox support for further assistance. They should be able to help you recover your old gamertag and link it to your new email address. They have a better view than us here on community since they are able to pull up your accounts manually.

Please follow the steps below to reach out to our live support team:

    1. Please use this link: Contact us | Xbox Support
    2. Scroll down and look at the lower left side if you can see the page matches the country/region you are currently located.
    3. If not, please select the country/region it is showing and select the correct one among the lists.
    4. Make sure to use to check the available contact times of the support.
    5. Select the "Contact Us" button
    6. Select the drop-down menu options that will match your concern.
    7. The next window will provide you with support articles based on your request and we recommend reviewing the relevant articles before selecting the "See contact options" button.
    8. On the final window, you will be presented with multiple options. We suggest selecting either the "Chat online" or the "Request a call" options to speak with someone. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible.
    9. If you cannot get connected to the support, please use the Virtual Agent and enter this exact phrase, "Talk to an agent".
    10. Should you be encountering issues contacting support, you may try InPrivate Window of your browser, other browser, different device/s or connect to different network.

    Hope I helped!

Changing the Microsoft account that an Xbox account is under

Since I was young when I got my Xbox the account was made using my sisters email, seeing as though an Xbox account and Microsoft account are separate, how could I put the Xbox account under a new Microsoft account without deleting my sisters Microsoft account entirely? I’ve tried calling but have had no luck.
A Microsoft and Xbox account are actually not separate. They are one of the same.

If you change the Microsoft email on the account to an email of your own then your sister will lose her email address forever.

You can add your own email as a secondary alias however youd still use her password to sign in and anytime she changes her password shed have to give you the new one.

Long story short is there isnt any way to completely separate the two without one of you (either your sister or you) having to start completely over. (either you with a brand new xbox profile or her with a brand new Microsoft email)

    Xbox Live Forced Name Change

Well mine changed for an unknown reason. I have had my xbox for a couple of months. I bought halo 5 fallout 4 and a few other games. One day, all of a sudden i couldnt play any of my games. It kept saying "couldnt load latest saved data". No one had an answer,
so I factory reset my xbox one and now when i tried to sign in with my email i think i put the wrong password and i think it just made a new account with my old accounts email because now i am trying every email i could possibly have used for my live account
but the only one i ever used is now signing in to this brand new account with none of my games on it :'(

Want to remove hotmail account from Microsoft account without permanently deleting the email.

you mother will have to share the games with you and you will have to create a brand new account, the microsoft account IS the email account IS the xbox account etc etc. nothing can be transferred.
