Update in Windows 10 broke MSAA Anti-Aliasing. Please fix ASAP. Games look super jagged.

Hello, a while ago an update broke anti-aliasing for a majority of games that utilize MSAA. Even with the settings maxxed out, it looks terrible.

This is on a desktop with an ASUS Z490 Maximus Formula XII, 10900K CPU, GTX1080Ti. Windows 10 20H2 and 461.92 NVIDIA Driver.

This has greatly affected the visual quality of games and in particular for myself, flight simulation. I use Prepar3D Version 5.1 HotFix 1 and the problem is present. It is also present in DCS World and X-Plane 11. I reported this issue in their forums as well:

Someone at Microsoft needs to take this seriously and look into this problem. Please find a solution to this. Thank you.

All Nvidia driver versions.

1080TI and 3090
Troubleshooted for months and months.

I have the same issue and it feels like certain textures/lines are not being rendered correctly as i now need 4-8x AA to get a picture close to what 0x AA used to look like and it still leaves a lot of lines. It has some effects on them but not much. Its there in 2d and VR and It's almost unplayable in VR due to the flickering even with lots of AA and a 4000 super sampling resolution.

MSAA SMAA . Same on everything.

0X MSAA

4x MSAA Marginal difference.

0x AA looks very jagged.

8x MSAA does to some extent work but there is marginal difference on some lines. As you can see its still very jagged and pure white.

I always thought the jagged lines on most games was because the 360 has little to no anti aliasing.

Blurring is more the Xbox 360s way of hiding bad anti aliasing, or lack of it. Anti aliasing is very taxing on the ancient GPU hardware the Xbox 360 has so you'll find this is a common technique used on the system along with some other techniques such as

Actually, the archictecture in the 360 GPU allows for some very low performance cost AA, however, because of the design, it isn't the greatest AA.

Yes. MSAA (Multi Sampling Anti Aliasing) and MLAA (Morphological Filtering Anti Aliasing) as already stated, lol.

jagged edges has more to do with lack of anti aliasing, not your hdmi's fault. The clearer the image, the more visible aliasing is.
