Update idea

First thing to do when the console dont work is to go here http://www.xbox.com/status and if all is ok and the problem persist just come here to the forums and ask about the problem

How about you do an update that insulates consoles from xbox.com down time so consoles can still be operational in this event. This is absolutely ridiculous and I had no idea it could be an issue. Thanks xbox.

I think the way that it's setup now though is that updates to your games can be applied as soon as they need to, though I can see how inconvenient it feels to not be able to access certain features of your console due to these kinds of outage.

However, that would totally be nice. If you would like to submit this idea to Xbox directly though the best way would be through the
Xbox Uservoice website.

Myself, i would change the "notification" sounds - For example, the sound when a friend comes online it would be different from an achievement ( like a knock on the door) and when you get a message that could sound like a phone ringing, But the achievement
itself would stay the same.
