If you are ready to reset your console to factory settings, follow these steps:

-Press the Xbox Button  to open the guide.
-Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console information.
-Select Reset console.
-On the screen Reset the console? you will see three options:

-Reset and remove everything. This option resets the console to factory settings. All user data, including accounts, saved games, settings, and primary Xbox associations, as well as all games and apps, will be deleted. Use this option if you are selling or giving away the console, or as a last resort in some troubleshooting cases.

-Reset and keep my games and applications. Use this option as your primary choice for troubleshooting. Reset the OS and remove all potentially corrupted data without deleting your apps or games. In some cases, if the problem you're trying to fix is caused by a corrupted game file, you may need to choose Reset and remove everything, but you should always start with Reset and keep my games and apps.

-Cancel. To exit this screen, simply select the Cancel button. Up to this point no action has been taken. This is a safe way to exit this screen.
After selecting one of the options, the Xbox console will begin the process of erasing the selected content and will reset to default settings.

I just tried again, but this time the update gave me a different error: now it just can't download the update.

The Error Code is: 3F4B-0000-3080-0504-8007-0070

Update status code: 396B-3CD6-1780-2446-C810-1004, as this status code is not listed in the support article :

support.xbox.com/.../software-update-errors I would suggest 1 of 2 things, try to directly connect your console to the modem to attempt the download and or try to update you console by using xbox.com/update to use a USB flash drive. If these fail still
with the same error code and or a different error code I would contact Xbox customer support. I hope that helps.

creeping issues, what does that even mean. If I was looking for vague answers i'd call Ms. Cleo. I get there's an outage of some sort, don't really understand why that would affect offline games. They could at least be transparent and let us know
what is going on. I see many people are dealing with this, so i know that I'm not the only one. I'm sure we'd all appreciate being kept in the loop. everyone saying check this service status is getting a bit tiring.

I agree completely. nothing including offline play is working for me.
