Update alert but doesnt show how to start the update

it doesnt show up with an error or anything and half the time it stop or doesnt update the download indicator and my wifi is fine. i did update the systen to its latest. and sometimes the downloads dont show up at all in the Downloads section of the dash.

Hi there, Once you start the download after a few seconds it will tell you how big the update is in Queue sections of my games and apps.

There's is a Updates section aswell in my games and apps which will show you what games and apps are needing updating. Unfortunately it won't tell you how the big the update is without clicking on it and starting the update.

This may mean that an update is still being installed for the game or app you tried to start.

Did this error occur when you tried to start a game?

The game may have been updating at the time you tried to start it or there was a

XBox Live status alert.

To check for updating alerts, in My Games & apps follow these steps:

1. Press the Xbox button
    and select Home to go to the Home screen.
2. Scroll down and select My games & apps. Find the title and check for an alert or a progress bar for the update.
3. When the install completes, try launching the title again.

we don't have any other acct and the password is only 9 characters. I just tried to play black ops and it said I needed to be connected to xbox live for an update before it would start. still not letting me connect, but not showing any errors other than
the service alert.
