    I've seen many locked forums over the years with this issue and it seems to persist without clear answer or action.

    It regards Xbox (ONE - perhaps also with X|S too??) and Steering Wheels (doesn't matter which brand like Fanatec, Logitech, Thrustmaster - this issue persists across all of them).

    The problem is that any button beyond the normal standard (eg. triggers, A,X,Y,B etc) cannot be mapped. Interestingly though the Xbox Elite controller has the ability to map its additional buttons.

    There is a very easy way to get to the mapping screen on Xbox, however lets replicate the issue here:

    On Xbox, you go to Settings > Devices & Connections > Accessories. Normally at this point the controller is visible and you can map the buttons.

    However with a Steering Wheel, you get "Connect and Xbox Wireless Controller to get started" - even though my steering wheel is officially licensed by Microsoft too.

    It's an absolute show stopper and people are moving to PS5 because of this. I'm not sure if the same problem persists in Xbox Series X|S but Sony are actively promoting this feature.

    It isn't an issue with the games either - the developers have built the functionality in and works on PC and PlayStation platforms.
    All forums don't give any clear answers - and now I have my Steering Wheel setup - I'm already feeling the pain here.

    No need for further speculation - what actions are addressing this?

    Well the LSB / RSB buttons don't do anything in any game. --I wouldn't be surprised if they were not actually wired in, or the wheel is not quite compatible. Features that the game supports, like voice control, never worked either. Here we are years later and it has never been fixed.. It's pretty poor.

    OK well you need to double check that the wheels on the compatibility list for your game and if it's not ask the developer to add it. Anything else that doesn't work with a game you can ask them about at the same time

    Logitech G920. It’s designed for the Xbox. It was the recommended and most commonly sold wheel for all driving games on Xbox. And besides, checking that it compatible with each game? When you buy each Xbox game, do you check that it will be compatible with your Xbox controller? No, because it’s an Xbox controller —it goes without saying that you expect an Xbox game to work with an Xbox controller.

    The steering wheel is compatible with Xbox one, but is it also compatible with the game? Unless the game directly supports the wheel, all you get is basic pad functionality
