Unable to use my headset for game/party chat

Hello All,

I'm attempting to use my Turtle Beach X4's on my Xbox One with a new talk back cable, but for some reason the headset does not pick up chat audio and the mic does not work. I can hear game sound just fine, and I know the mic/headset works because when I
check for controller updates I can briefly hear my mic through my headphones until it finishes searching for an update. This leads me to believe it is a system/controller issue rather than a headset issue. I've also tried multiple controllers. Any ideas?

Headphones/Chat Yes or no??

I used to use headphones for in-game sound while late at night, but no longer do that. I use the headset while talking to friends either in party chat or game chat, but prefer party chat. While on my own I don't use my headset, but have it plugged in so
that the talking and other weird noises others make doesn't come through the speakers.

 

Party Chat not Working

Every since the console update on Saturday, I am unable to chat in a party. Everybody that I party with says they can hear each other but party chat doesn't work for me. If doesn't work with a headset or through the Kinect.

Our party did switch over to game chat and we were able to chat with each other, so I know it's not an issue with my headset.

Anybody else encounter anything like this?

 

Update: I figured out that I am able to use my headset to give commands to Cortana. So what is preventing me from using my mic in a party chat or to send voice messages?

Have you had a chance to work through the
headset troubleshooting guide? Also, when you check your
audio output settings does everything look to be in order there as well?

Yes - I've tried a seemingly endless number of audio option combinations to no avail. I have an xbox one chat headset that I can use with no issues, so I don't think it would be a privacy/option issue. I've also noticed that the mic works when my controller
is off (I can hear myself talk through the headset), but once the controller is on I can no longer hear myself....

When you can, let's go ahead and try a quick factory reset of the console by following the steps in our

factory reset guide. Please be sure to keep your games and apps installed when asked to do so during this process.
