Unable to use additional payment method

I have been given a Xbox Live gift card with £15.00 for Christmas.

I have added these to my Xbox Live account and this has brought my balance up to £34.38 from my previous balance.

Xbox has since made Call of Duty: Ghosts available for marketplace download for the 360. Priced at £34.99.

However, when I try and download I find that I am unable to use my Xbox balance of £34.38 and that the marketplace keeps pointing my payment method as my credit card. I can change the payment method to Paypal but not to my balance.

Why can not I use my balance and the use an additional payment method to pay to complete the remainder of the transaction.

IE. Use balance of £34.38 and then use paypal or credit card to pay £0.61.

Why does Xbox not allow for this. You can do this on many other sites but why dont on Xbox????

Is there any way around this?

I can not add a card in payment methods

This message appears - "Unable to authorize payment method. Make sure that the correct data is provided, or use another method of payment. If you continue to receive this message, contact your financial institution"

 

Unable to remove PayPal account from xbox

I've tried going through payment and billing and am unable to remove my payment method..... help!!!!!

 

Currency can only be used on the xbox at the moment as the website is not set up for it. When used on the console it will automatically default to your currency balance as the first payment method but will require an alternate to be chose to cover any overages.
In your case, you have 34.38 available but the cost of the item is 34.99. The difference plus taxes must be applied. Once you choose the other method it will go through and only take the balance off of paypal or a credit card.

 

I'm having a problem, and I just dont think its set up to do this:

I want to buy Lego LOTR on sale for $11.99 this week. I currently have a balance on my microsoft account of $5.01.

Logic would say, apply that amount, and use another payment option for the difference, but this is not an option - it should be! Its making me use my card for the full amount with no way to apply the funds you already have in account to the purchase.

 

I can't even use the money on my Microsoft balance, I have $65.01 and trying to buy BF 4 premium( $49.99) but there is no option to buy, all I get is a redeem code and new credit card options

 

Are both of you trying to purchase on the website or the console?

 

just the console. I havent tried again this morning, but as of last night, it was greyed out, not an option. I'll try again today and let you know.

Just tried again, and it is still greyed out. Pops up to my card automatically for the full purchase price. When I choose another payment option, my account with the balance is shown, but greyed out and unselectable.

 

On both, console and website I have no option to use Microsoft money

 

Depending on where you live there is tax and that could be what is affecting the payment from going through if you have JUST currency.

 

Nope I can't use my Microsoft money either. It is grayed out as you said.

 

Same here. Have $50 in my account. Tying to by a $59.99 game on my console, but it keeps wanting to charge the full amount to my credit card. It shows the $50 balance on my account, but it is grayed out and not selectable as an option as others have said.
Seriously Microsoft?!? If we don't have "exact change" in our account we are left with either too little money to use it, or too much money and some is left over which won't be enough to buy anything later. I'm seriously hoping this is a bug which will be
fixed quickly and not a re-hash of the similar scam tactics they had with the points system.
