Unable to unpack games on Gamepass on Windows 11

    Hi,

I have a windows 11 gaming PC and I am unable to run any games downloaded on the game pass.

The download completes, but as I try to run the game on the app, I get an error "Unexpected error occurred". The error code is 0xc0ea000a as seen below:

If I create a shortcut on desktop and try to run the app, it opens and attempts at unpacking, then It throws an error.

I have tried multiple things suggested on different questions, but nothing seems to be working. I have also updated all drivers and reinstalled the xbox app, but still having issues.

    :)

Unable to unpack games on Gamepass on Windows 11

    Hi there Sep B.

I am Lumie and I would love to assist you today.

I am so sorry you are having issues running games on your PC.

The error code 0xc0ea000a that you are encountering when trying to unpack and run games from the Xbox Game Pass on Windows 11 indicates an issue related to the Xbox app or game installation process. There are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

    Check Windows Updates:

Ensure that your Windows 11 operating system is fully up-to-date. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any pending updates.

Reset Xbox App and Gaming Services:

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
Search for the Xbox app and click on Advanced options.
    Click on Reset.
Repeat the same process for the Gaming Services app.
    Repair and Reset Microsoft Store:

Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter. This will reset the Microsoft Store cache.
Alternatively, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, find the Microsoft Store, and select Advanced options. Click Repair and then Reset.

    Reinstall Gaming Services:

Open PowerShell as an administrator (search for PowerShell, right-click and select Run as administrator).
    Execute the following command:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    After that, execute:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
This will open the Microsoft Store to reinstall the Gaming Services. Click Install.

    Check Disk Space and Permissions:

Ensure you have sufficient disk space available for unpacking and running games.
Check that you have the correct permissions for the folder where the games are being installed. You may need to adjust permissions or change the installation directory to a location where you have full control.

    Disable Third-Party Antivirus and Firewall:

Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus or firewall programs as they might interfere with the game installation process. Ensure you re-enable them afterward.

    Run Windows Troubleshooter:

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
Find the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter and run it to identify and fix potential issues.

    Modify Local Group Policy:

Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Store.
Ensure that the policy setting Turn off the Store application is set to Not Configured or Disabled.

    Reinstall Xbox App and Game:

Uninstall the Xbox app by going to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
Find the Xbox app and uninstall it.
Reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game that is causing issues.

    Check for Corrupted System Files:

Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:

    sfc /scannow
This command will scan and repair any corrupted system files.

Check System Language and Region Settings:

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.
Ensure your region and language settings match the content of the game. Sometimes mismatched settings can cause issues.

    Update Drivers and BIOS:

Ensure that all system drivers are up to date, especially graphics and network drivers.
Check for any BIOS updates from your motherboard manufacturer, as sometimes game compatibility issues can be related to BIOS settings.

    Use Different User Account:

Create a new local user account on your PC and try running the game from this new account. This can help determine if the issue is related to your user profile.

    I hope this helps.

I shall be here for your response. -Lumie

    Win11 IS for Gamers

ok, gaming on windows 11 is also worse than 10, the windows store and xbox gamepass are disconnected and feel very clunky, this is from extensive testing too.
