Unable to sign in to xbox. Service unavailable 0x80a40401 error

I appreciate the update and I apologize for that, hopefully they will be able to make it right before 24 hours.

Finally after contacting them by phone, they have admitted that during their works overnight they somehow managed to set us up with an incorrect (not UK) IP address. It is not something we can change and we will have to wait for their engineers to make the changes, which could be another 24 hours.

That is so annoying.

Having looked up the IP address assigned to us, it says it IS a UK Ip address. If it is, then why do you think Xbox is blocking us? It must be more complicated than that I guess.

In regards to the error according to Xbox Support:

'This may mean that you’re in a region where this service is not available. There’s no workaround for this'

If you're on a supported region, I have here steps that we can try, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

"1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​"

If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

"Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps."

Also, you can try performing an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware.

" 1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state."
