Unable to project PC to Xbox series x using wireless display

    Hi,

Just purchased and setup the Xbox series x thinking i can project my PC on to the Xbox series x, however as soon as i attempt to connect via the PC, it immediately disconnects.

The Xbox displays "something went wrong with the projection"

I have tried searching for a solution online but nothing i have tried has worked so far.

Lists of things i have tried...

    1. I can confirm both PC and Xbox have now been connected over wifi, same network. I have even tried 2ghz and 5ghz.

    2. I have disabled Norton firewall and also added allow all rule to see if that works.

    3. I have uninstalled the app on Xbox and drivers on pc and reinstalled. No success.

    4. I have successfully been able to project to a Samsung q80 TV but not the Xbox so hoping this demonstrates my router isn't blocking anything

    5. I have tried a laptop to connect to xbox but no luck but that laptop can connect to Samsung q80.

Has anyone else come across this or know how i can get pc to project to Xbox?

    Appreciate any help

    Sam

    :)

Unable to project PC to Xbox series x using wireless display

    Hello George C.

I have tested the above and had no luck. The closet I get is I connect both PC and Xbox Series X to the same WIFI (with both network cables unplugged) and I can see the XBOX as a wireless display to cast my PC. however, it attempts to connect, and the screen blinks and immediately says disconnected.

I have now been able to connect to the XBOX with my laptop, but still not able to connect through my PC.

My PC is showing as a wireless display capable device in the Drivers command "Wireless Display Supported: Yes (Graphics Driver: Yes, Wi-Fi Driver: Yes)"

I have further uninstalled Norton antivirus from my PC and reverted to windows antivirus.

surely I cannot be the only one with this issue?

I see that this post has the same issue, but the thread is now locked

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Baba_Samba, I did a little research and saw many situations like this, however find this procedure, do a test to see if it works.

Connect your Series X to the Wifi network your computer is connected to

Tap Win + P and look for your xbox on the right menu.

You should be able to share your screen now

you can plug your ethernet cable back.

You may need to restart your Xbox after connecting to the wifi.

    Hope this helps !

Proper setup for Xbox "Wireless Display" app?

I'm running the game on my Win10 laptop and trying to "project" (WinKey + P) it to my Xbox One X, with the "Wireless Display" app running.

It's the brand-new Xbox One app, just released last week.

    Installing apps

Hello, this is not possible currently, however if you want to play your PC games on your Xbox you can use the Wireless Display app on Xbox to stream your PC games on Xbox.

    I hope this helps,
I just want to clarify how to use the app.

"Once the app is open on your Xbox One, press Windows key + P to bring up the
“Project” menu on your PC. Click the “Connect to a wireless display” link. Your Xbox One should appear as one of the options. Click on it, and your screen will cast to the display your Xbox One is connected to." -BGR

I hope this helps with your issue.

    Wifi direct password Xbox one

Thanks for clarify your situation a bit more

The Wireless display app is to do the opposite
Project an android or PC screen to the Xbox

In order to use it on your Android device you need to use the sharing screen feature included in your mobile phone (usually the option is in your notification center)
