Unable to Play Online Multiplayer without Pass. Even on Purchased Game.

I Recently purchased Call of Duty Cold war. But I am Not able to Play online multiplayer and Its Asking me to Buy a Xbox Pass. Which is Not mentioned anywhere before you buy a Game, Is This ethical ? Is There any way I can Play Multiplayer Online without any Pass ?

on consoles you need gold membership or gamepass ultimate which contains gold to play online, this is stated on every game either digital or disc if online play is involved.

You don't need Game Pass necessarily, but you do need a Gold subscription to play online (Game Pass Ultimate does include Gold), which is typically mentioned in the description for any game that requires that for online.

Xbox Live Gold is ONLY required for playing online Multiplayer, participating in parties and getting and playing the free Games with Gold games.

If you purchased a game digitally, you can download that without a Gold membership. You'll just be unable to play the online multiplayer part (if the game has online Multiplayer).

Minecraft and Descenders are not free games. You can play them for free if you have Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate. An Xbox Gold subscription allows you to play multiplayer games online but does not give you access to the games without purchasing them.

Game Pass is like Nerflix for games in that you get access to play games without having to purchase them.
