Unable to play Black Panther 4K?

Hello,

I am using a xbox one x scorpion edition and I'm trying to watch black panther in 4k - annoyingly the blu-ray player app seems to crash every time i use it.. Other 4k films work though. This is my second copy of the film and the disc is in perfect condition.

I know the app can be flaky but I have tried the classic hard reset and power down troubleshooting methods. At a bit of a loss here and can't work out why its not working when the new Avenger films work off the bat.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. That's definitely odd since other movies seem to work fine. In that case, I recommend deleting
the Blu-ray app from the xbox. Please clear persistent storage before redownloading the app.

1. Go to settings
2. Select Disc and Blu-ray
3. Select clear persistent storage

After this you can redownload the Blu-ray app and give Black Panther another try

try uninstall the app then do the power cycle the download the blue ray app and all his update then play the movie

Sadly no luck. If I try another disc it starts up fine.

The reader seems to be failing to correctly recognise the disc now after a reinstallation of the app.

I have tried to reboot the system and the same thing happens. I am now getting error code 0x91d700000.

That error code is for a Disc reading issue.

I have uninstalled the app - inserted the disc and it recommend that I install the Blu-ray Player. So it does know its a Blu-ray disc it is just unable to load it.

 

Thanks for your help - sadly this didn't work either.

 

Playing around before work this morning I tried the following which worked:

1. Hard reset the Xbox the night before (Unsure if this could be done closer to the power on step but its what I have done)
2. Power on the Xbox (I made sure to use the power button)
3. Wait 5 minutes (I assume this allows for all the processes on the Xbox to full load)
4. Insert disc (This will automatically bring up the Blu-ray player application)

There was a slight pause at the baby blue Blu-Ray player screen with the spinning loading circle frozen in the lower section of the screen. After the slight pause the screen went black and my TV was triggered to go into HDR mode so it flickered slightly
as I have seen before with other 4k movies. The film then played but did state something about to get the most of this blu-ray you should play it through a blu-ray player with a 4k tv - unsure if this is just suggestion or if it had picked up an issue.

I will retry tonight without a hard reset but with the pause before inserting the disc and report back to this case.

 

Okay - so I have tried again and I am hitting the same issue.

Either the app just closes with or without an error or I have to kill it as it's clearly stuck.

The disc worked this morning on this console and now it doesn't want to work - is there anyway to gather a debug log and send it for analysis to the development team?

 

Weirdly I have just got it working after a few attempts of quitting the app and reinserting the disc.

This app is reallllyyy buggy. Happy to help gather logs if the development team where interested in fixing this issue?
