Unable to Message people NOT on my friends list

So within the last day or two I've been having an issue with Xbox.com and I guess technically on the Xbox one itself.

When playing a game like Destiny 2 for example, I would go to the Destiny forums and join a fire team to do an activity such as the raid.

Now in order to get an invite, I would go to my PC and send a message via Xbox.com for an invite to the party. I would go to the message section of Xbox.com and be able to quickly type up a message to receive an invite. However, the website within the last
day or two (that I've noticed) hasn't allowed me to send a message to someone NOT on my friends list. It only allows me to select someone already on my friends list and message them. This has been something standard on the Xbox One for awhile (and it's annoying
when trying to make parties with random people who you aren't friends with), now apparently this has something to do with whatever update was recently rolled out. I hope that the ability to message people not on your friends list is restored because I use
the PC to get invites to various games.

I Was perma-banned Without explanation & my entire library was stripped from me.

My reputation on the enforcement page is green, and nothing is listed on my profile as negative; I have my settings set so im unable to hear/recieve messages from players not on my friends list, which also makes it so i can't send/speak to people not on
my friends list so no, i have not.

 

people sending hate messages.

never get them. if not on my friends list then auto delete

 

I have been having the same issue....this is so weak..... cant join an lfg group because of this.....whats up microsoft????

Seems like an odd glitch going on, you could try signing into enforcement.xbox.com just to be sure its not that.

 

Yeah, same problem, same situation. I can no longer use Destiny LFG sites because the message button doesn't actually create a new message for that person. The recent update to the Xbox UI, which was rolled out a week or 2 ago, caused this issue.

For example, this URL (where you replace the gamertag with the person you want to message) no longer works:

This needs to be FIXED!

Sooooo painful to have to manually type in the person's gamertag in the "Find Someone" box on the Xbox itself.

This sounds more like a issue with that sites API and not with the Xbox message system.

I have seen this same "Report" On reddit and can assure you and the OP that you can still message people no on your friends list.

I have tested this via the Xboxone system, The PC App, The xbox.com site, and my Phone App *Android*

It's not that according to the site my record is perfect. So this is obviously a Microsoft issue.

 

Definitely a microsoft issue... all my stuff checks out, but no messages will send

 

To message players not in your friends list if you go to friends on the app you should see a search bar, type in the gamertag and tap/click message on their profile.
